Holiday Shopping With Dan & Leah – Part Two

Enjoying Mac – Ben Franklin, beer, and public art

McMinnville is also a fun town to explore during happy hour and at night. Third Street is beautifully lined with trees, a canopy of Christmas lights twinkling above with lit up ribbon arches at cross streets. We have enjoyed many evenings drinking and eating here together and with friends.

Our top recommendations are:

On our way to Newberg, we stop in Dundee at Red Hills Market for gifts and coffee or lunch. Dan loves their mortadella sandwich, especially. This little deli & market gem is home to a carefully considered selection of beer and wine, bread, charcuterie, cheese, and a lovely assortment of other delicious pantry items and gifts.

I picked up some bottles of Dominio IV Pinot Noir for Dan’s bosses and assorted ornaments and small gifts for friends and family.

PULP & CIRCUMSTANCE – 117 S. COLLEGE ST, NEWBERG

Our favorite shop in Newberg is Pulp & Circumstance, a bright note of beautiful gifts, treats, and stationery orchestrated perfectly within the rooms of a Victorian house. This is Dan’s GO-TO shop for shopping for me, and he has found some genuine treasures. My favorite gift was the ginko leaf necklace he gave me for our 10th anniversary. He really can’t go wrong here…All of my favorite things under one roof: Frames, jewelry, paintings, ceramics, cards, stuffed animals, and air plants. This is also my favorite spot for fun gifts for my niece and nephews or Raine-there is always a cute collection of toys, trinkets, and sweets.

Speaking of sweets, we are high-tailing it back to Carlton before the jam shop closes. We stocked up for holiday gifts and bought a few jars for ourselves to bake with. I have already ranted and raved on this blog about ROJ, so I will save time and just gently remind everyone: IT IS THE BEST JAM EVER. EVER.

A few wrapped gifts at home, including a little lavender sachet that Raine picked out for my mother when he and I shopped at McMinnville Library’s Children’s Craft Bazaar. Our parents and siblings all received our 2014 baked goods: Rice krispies with strawberry mexican chocolate / Rice krispies with peanut butter berry jam (and extra peanut butter) / Mascarpone cookies with fig port jam / Mascarpone cookies with spiced pineapple rum jam.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
